Beginning of the Blog

Since my retirement on May 1, Steve and I have been planning to travel for the winter in our 17' travel trailer, a Casita I have named Bubbles. We take our two dogs Summer and Bentley with us when we go.

We are planning a 4 month trip starting in January, south and west for the winter. The plan is to leave on January 1, head directly south to Tupelo, MS and get on the Natchez Trace, "a historic travel corridor used by American Indians, "Kaintucks," European settlers, slave traders, soldiers, and future presidents".

We will drive the Natchez Trace to Jackson, MS, stay the night there and then head on to New Orleans for a few days. From there we will bird our way around the Gulf Coast to Corpus Christie, and then head west through the Lower Rio Grande Valley and across Texas, pretty much hugging the Rio all the way across. Final Texas destination is Big Bend National Park where we will be for several days.

Stay tuned for the rest of the itinerary.

The first  two nights of travel we will stay in hotels as it will be too cold in the north for camping. We park our camper in the hotel parking lots. Kind of funny!

If you are interested in following us in our travels and adventures, subscribe to the TravelBlog. I probably won't post every day, but enough to keep you interested in where we are and what we are doing.

An abrupt end...

To catch up:  We departed Sharon and Kyle's house in Rimrock on Sunday March 19 and drove back down to Sierra Vista to Beth and Aaron...
